Dash Door was retained by international civil contractor, Bouygues Civil Works Florida for three separate scopes of work at the Port of Miami Tunnel project. The Port of Miami Tunnel (POMT) project was built by MAT Concessionaire, LLC, in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami.
Dash Door furnished and installed:
1) Stainless Steel frames and swing fire doors with associated hardware
2) Stainless Steel Overhead Rolling doors at cross passages
3) Custom Stainless Steel sliding fire doors with stainless steel enclosure pockets at all of the emergency cross passages between tunnels
The sliding fire doors were calibrated and tested for easy opening and self-closing under differential pressure conditions which occur during emergency smoke evacuation routines. This criteria imposed stringent manufacturing and installation tolerances in order to ensure smooth operation during demanding conditions. Dash Door engineering provided design and calculations for the performance criteria required. All aspects of Dash’s scope of work were design build and involved design coordination with constant communication through submittals and modification requests for the constantly changing project conditions.
The Port of Miami Project is a local landmark civil structure to which Dash Door is proud to have contributed.
